*minor spoilers*
This was a cute story with quite a few important points, and I enjoyed reading this in a buddyread with a friend.
It’s about a Jewish woman working at a weather station, where the working environment is not what you’d call peacful and productive - thanks to her two bosses who are divorced and are set on making each others lives miserable.
Also, Ari grew up watching Torrance Hale presenting the weather, and everything surrounding it, on television, and it was her dream to become like her. Landing her job at the same station made her hoping to have Torrance as a mentor or similar.
However, Torrance seems too preoccupied with her shouting matches with her ex husband to be able to notice Ari.
These two things combined lead her to share her misery with her co-worker Russel who is equally plagued by the horrendous working atmosphere.
They both come up with a plan to try to get their bosses back together, and in turn grow closer to each other themselves.
I enjoyed reading it - it’s fun and quirky - and I liked that it discussed topics like mental health struggles, single parenthood, women on television and what they have to endure, and male body image issues.
At some points it was a bit over the top (why would you bring along your employee to the birth of your grandchild?), but I liked reading it nonetheless. The author even wrote some follow-up-questions which are great for thinking about some of those important themes more in depth, and made us have more from our buddyread.
If you’re looking for an easy read and a cute romance with important points still, you’ll most likely enjoy this book.
