“My heart broke with every victim, but rather than break down and cry, I focussed on what might bring them some kind of justice.” (excerpt from the book Unmasekd)
I came to know Paul Holes through his podcast “the Murder Squad”, and the TV-Series “ DNA of Murder”.
I was curious to find out how the author managed to connect his life and investigative work into one book. I wasn’t aware how deeply interwoven those two parts for him were, and all the difficulties this has brought with it.
Holes describes not only his life, but also a couple of cases he came upon his career as a investigator, especially the Golden State killer, a case he was determined to solve.
I found the book very emotional, the author reveals a side that I have not known from him before. His investigative work is amazing and very insightful.
I really enjoyed reading this book, although it could have been a little longer. The book was over too quickly. I especially liked the mix between biography and detective work.
