Before beginning to read, I wasn’t aware that there was more than one victim involved, all presumably connected by similar marks. Every rumour is placed under the microscope, even the mistakes made during the investigation. What I found unfair was how the police were blamed for not solving the case in the view of the public. When there is a cold case, putting the blame on the police is always the first and quickest assumption. But in the case of Jeannette DePalma and the other victims, the investigator had a lot of information to go through, which is sometimes not appreciated by the public. Many leads led in different directions, and various suspects were identified.
The author presented an in-depth account of this cold case and also included the difficulties the authorities had to deal with.
