Heir of Storms reminded me a little bit of Avatar (not the blue one, The Last Airbender one) because of the elements and their kingdoms with a hint of youth-free Game of Thrones. There is much more to some characters and the story itself then you’d expect which makes it much more engaging.
I loved Blaze’s character development so much, the way she rediscovers her gift and starts to own it is so well done. The way the themes of grief and loss are handled is really good. And thank god for giving us a grandmother that is not cruel but supportive!
The love triangle that gave me an ick at first because I am really not a big fan, was really well done.
This was a very entertaining ya-fantasy novel that kept me guessing and rooting and I’ll definitely continue this series!
