I really liked the idea of an orc quitting her career as a barbarian to open a coffee shop. I also enjoyed the variety of different (looking), interesting characters and the fact that the protagonist is a tall, strong warrior with fangs. And the cover is beautiful. Amazing artwork and definitely the main reason why I bought it.
All vibes, no plot. That’s what I expected. A story so cozy and warm it would melt my soul into a cute little heart shaped form, put some glazed sugar on top and serve it with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Unfortunately that’s not what happened. What I got instead, was a restless main character that had to build the entire place nearly from scratch, then had to hassle all the problems that came with opening your own coffee shop and when the customers finally did start pouring in, she had to work non-stop. And on top of all that we have some random villain who wants to destroy everything she’s built without a real motive. I don’t know – I guess this just wasn’t my kind of coziness. Too much going on and, apart from the characters, not enough fantasy.
It wasn’t all bad and I did’t mind reading it. I just think this could have been way cozier.
