Opposite to “The name of the wind” I went into this book with high expectations. A lot of things had been set up and prepared to be further explored within this second book. I was excited.
Sadly, the writing style stayed much the same, as in drawn out and long parts of the book not really moving the plot along and nothing much happening. The story crawls towards a goal that is unclear. Don’t get me wrong, I love the fun interactions of the characters and the little feuds and sidequests, but at some point, things have to move along.
It really didn’t help that some plotpoint, which could have been really interesting, are simply dropped or skipped over.
I expected more from a continuation of the Kingkillers cronicles.
