Easily one of the best fantasy reads of the century!

Meet the Six of Crows - a band of misfits, each one with their own agenda and their own goal. Still, to ensure that all of it comes true, they must execute the heist of the century. An almost impossible task it seems… Leigh Bardugo easily crept up to the top three on my list of the best fantasy authors with this duology. The six main characters are so intricate and different from each other, still are never getting too complicated when it comes to weave them together in the story. The heist ist incredible! Imagine the crew of Ocean’s Eleven, but smarter, more profound and with a whole lot of interesting lore and baggage. If you have seen the Netflix show, which is good, you’re gonna devour this book in no time.

Have you read Crooked Kingdom yet?

stephiesheena Right?? I am in love with the characters, especially Jesper, our sassy boy 😉 Yes I have read it! Almost as genius as the first one and wraps up their story nicely. Liked the first one a little better though. How about you?

The characters are the best part about this already superb story!
Though, it’s suuuper hard for me to pick a favourite among them. If I HAD TO choose I’d say Matthias wins by mere inches. But I love them all so so much! They’re all so beautifully themselves.

I loved SoC but CK broke my heart. There were a few bits that felt a bit dragged but the ending and the blow with Nina and Matthias made more than up for it imo 🙂

stephiesheena Absolutely agreed. Best character developments I have seen in some time! Mathias is great, but deffo not a fav of me. I like him mostly because of Nina. She is a goddess. I have so many quotes of her written down in my notebook! Speaking of Nina, have you read King of Scars? If not and if you like Nina, dig in 😉

I get that you like Nina, I adore her in SoC and CK too. But I really enjoyed Mathias’ journey - how far he’s come and how much he’s grown.

I’ve read all the books in the universe so far and unfortunately Nina’s lost a bit of her hold on me in KoS and RoW. Probably also a bit due to Nikolai being in the same book (😋) and because her storyline didn’t really catch me.
What do you think of Rule of Wolves?

stephiesheena Really? I still think Nina is just a glorious person. Probably because I identify with her so much lol. And yes, there’s a lot going on with Nikolai’s losing-his-shit arc. But still, her little glorious moments make it for me 🙂

Rule of Wolves was probably my least favorite. But I can’t really pinpoint why…

She’s still a badass, I agree 🙂 I just wasn’t too interested in this part of the story.

I agree with you on RoW (if we exclude the Shadow and Bone series, which were not my faves). There were too many POVs for my liking and some of the scenes could have been cut imo.

It was still very good on a whole but if I compare it to SoC, CK and KoS it’s definitely the least exciting read - though, to me, Nikolai makes up for a LOT 😛
