Cecilia crosses the atlantic to find her war-wounded brother. But she can only find his best friend Edward Rokesby, who is lying unconscious in the hospital. Only when she pretends to be his wife, she’s allowed to see and care for him. As Edward wakes up he is surprised, but as he has some memory loss, he believes it must be true. The characters are lovable and the story very easy to follow (yes it’s a lovestory so you don’t expect a profound narrative). It’s been a while since I indulged in a romantic historic novel, I got sucked into the book very quickly, now I’ll have to read the whole Bridgerton series and all the other prequels.
