        You should definitely read this book. To learn, to feel, to understand. It is as devastating as it is hopeful. A story about Syria and her people. It erases stereotypes and creates urgently required representation. A powerful read with heavy topics but also a lot of heart. A very impressive and important book.

        Die 18-jährige Salama lebt inmitten des tobenden syrischen Bürgerkriegs und versucht dort ihr Bestes, um einerseits im Spital die Kriegsverletzten zu verarzten und andererseits ihre verwitwete und schwangere Schwägerin ¨über Wasser zu halten. Und inmitten dieser Wirren begegnet sie Kenan, der sich für die Revolution einsetzt. Es beginnt eine Liebesgeschichte inmitten von Zerstörung. Das Buch berührt mit seiner Liebesgeschichte und zeigt gleichzeitig die schrecklichen Seiten des Krieges. Eine wunderschöne und zugleich traurige Geschichte!
