Starting this book, I somehow had high hopes. Sins marking your body, assassins, some kinds of vampires, a cultish thing going on…It all sounded to intriguing!
But I was let down.
For me , the only fantasy part of this book was the Bloodrot. There somehow was barely any worldbuilding. Where does the bloodrot come from? No idea. Or maybe I missed something, idk. I get that it’s Urban Fantasy but I’d like to have a little more explanation.
The last 30% were better, stuff was happening, the cults and spies were doing the spiderman meme, all pointing at each other, shouting “no, YOU`RE the bad guys!”
I wasn’t a big fan of the FMC nor how some specific things were brought up.
The book had potential and it was an ok read but not as special as I thought it would be.
Thank you, Netgalley!
