I read the whole series maybe ten years ago, and the fondness I developed then hasn’t ceased today. A couple of pages in, and I was back again. It felt like sitting back into a comfy chair and getting comfortable. Any disturbance would disrupt the closeness between me and the book. Despite the rather macabre scientific background information, you get while reading, I am always able to block out any surrounding noises. This is also Thanks to the author’s straightforward writing approach, which might not appeal to everyone.
A reason why I began rereading the series is that I think these books are worth reading more than once. Still, when I came across the news that Simon Beckett is writing another book about the forensic expert David Hunter, I found it the right moment to revisit the old crime scenes and get reacquainted with old characters.
