Power Forward by Jodi Oliver follows Hayden Cassidy and Jackson Wilde as they find their way back to each other.
What made this story so special to me was not just their relationship, but also Jackson’s kids, Isabela and Ryan. The way they connected with Hayden added so much warmth and depth to the story and made everything feel even more real and emotional.
Hayden completely stole my heart (especially with his random daily facts about jellyfish), and watching him struggle (not only due to his career ending injury years ago) and spiral at times made the emotional moments hit even harder.
Jackson, on the other hand, was exactly what Hayden needed. Supportive, patient, and so full of love; not just for Hayden, but for his kids too (there are the expected doubts of a single parent)Their relationship felt raw, emotional, and incredibly healing.
“You’ve shown up for me. You’ve shown up for my kids. You’ve shown me that you have a big fucking heart and that you care. You’ve shown me that you’re fucking strong despite whatever lies your mind is telling you, you were strong, and you got the help you needed.”
That quote says everything.
Did this book make me emotional? Absolutely.
Did I love every second of it? Also yes.

This book absolutely owns my heart. Definitely my favourite of the 4 Books of the Chicago Thunder series so far.
I am looking forward to read Elliots story next. The precious goalie of the Thunders.
