Beautiful Venom by Rina Kent is a dark and intense romance that definitely lives up to its name. Going into this book, I already had some experience with the author’s work (I’ve read the Legacy of Gods series and Kiss the Villain), but I still wasn’t fully prepared for how far certain elements would go.
The story follows Dahlia Thorne, who is trying to uncover what happened to her foster sister Violet, who is in a coma. Driven by revenge, Dahlia tries to infiltrate a secret society within the university’s hockey team and gets close to Kane Davenport, the captain of the Vipers.
Their dynamic is intense and morally complex, which makes the story gripping but at times also overwhelming. While the dark elements create impact, they sometimes take away from deeper emotional development.
Overall, I found Beautiful Venom engaging - especially towards the end - but not without its flaws, which is why I’d rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
I’d recommend it to readers who enjoy dark romance with intense dynamics and morally grey characters.
