The book starts out incredibly slow. We follow Fitz through his childhood and into his teenage years. Even though the story moves forward very slowly, the writing is beautifully done. The book is very character-driven, and for a long time it’s unclear where the story is headed. Up until around the 40% mark, there isn’t much of a plot. After that, the story starts to become more interesting. I actually really liked how the story developed in the second half, and I think I’ll give the second book a try.
