I first read Night School in 2014, right at the start of my book-blogging journey, and revisiting it now feels like stepping back into a world that shaped me as a reader. The story follows Allie Sheridan, a rebellious fifteen-year-old sent to the mysterious Cimmeria Academy—a boarding school full of secrets, strange rules, and emotional tension. From the moment Allie arrives, the atmosphere is electric: romance, danger, and a constant sense that nothing is quite what it seems. I was completely hooked by the suspense and the slow unraveling of the academy’s hidden truths.
Even as a teen, I was so immersed that it influenced my wardrobe—this book sparked my love for Doc Martens, and I still think about those knee-high boots Allie wore. The emotional twists, the secretive Night School program, and the question of who Allie can trust kept me turning pages late into the night. It’s the kind of story that pulls you in and doesn’t let go.
What made the experience even more magical back then were the book trailers—actual cinematic previews that gave the story a visual life before I even opened the first page. That extra layer of creativity made the world of Night School feel even more vivid and immersive. It’s the first in a five-book series, and it sets the tone brilliantly: addictive, atmospheric, and full of intrigue.
Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐ – The younger me would be absolutely flabbergasted if I gave this anything less.
Spice Rating: 🌶️ 🌶️ – There is some PDA, but I would say that it’s alright for a 14 yo.
