It was in the late November that I saw a reel of somebody recommending the book, by hinting the plot would be about a dude without pants and his fluffy cat, marauding through a dungeon. Enough reason for me to order the first three books. Not even 100 pages into the first book, the other four (currently published) books of the series. were ordered.
It started amazing and unlike any other series, it did not keep the quality, it incremented by every single book. Not because of a sudden epiphany in writing style of Matt Dinniman, but because the deepness of the characters as well as level crazy- and absurdness went beyond eleven.
The story thickens with oh so many facets of the characters, not only focused on the “main cast”. Yes, it is a hilarious gore-fest that makes you (or at least me) literally laugh out loud during the read, but is by core a drama and prepare to receive a falcon punch to your feels right the next moment.
It is, in my opinion, the best book of the series (again!), but not by itself, but with all the build up read and lived through the previous books. Get ready to dive into blood, loyalty, trauma therapy during the apocalypse, intergalactic politics, fantastically failing plans and succeeding crazy improvisations. Ah hell load of chaos, fun, emotions and shouting out w-t-f for all the reasons on the spectrum.
It is hard to get into detail without spoiling it, so just take my enthusiastic recommendation, take this series and: Read, read, read!
