The Setting of The Thicket would fit perfectly for a Halloween movie with a haunted flair. But it is far from engaging and chilling as promised. I was surprised by the quick end of the story. I saw potential to build up the main plot or even add one or two side plots. To make the story in itself more interesting. In a way, the possible side plots are mentioned, and it’s for the reader to guess what could have been. Everything happening is fixed to one location where the Carnival is residing.
It’s a bit disappointing because that’s not what I’m used to from this author. Once again, I am reinforced in the belief to take praise on the book cover with a grain of salt and better trust in my own opinion.
