A must-read for everyone interested in true crime or those who want to know more about the Hillside Stranglers. A podcast sparked my interest to find out more about these horrific killings in the 1970s.
The author does not omit any information, no matter how gruesome some of it may be. This story is true to its title; the inside story is what you get. The story is divided into separate parts, with the third part primarily focusing on the lengthy trial. I usually don’t like reading about true crime trials, as they tend to be too lengthy and boring. Here I was surprised, not boring at all. What came as a surprise was the verdict, but this dissatisfaction has nothing to do with how the book was written, but rather with how the case was investigated.
The story in itself is well-written and comprehensively researched. The focus is not only on the suspects, but also on the victims. This approach always gets positive points from me. This is a way to give a voice to the victims and their families.
