A Noise Downstairs is a pure psychological thriller, and it reminded me a little of Misery, which was written by Stephen King. But the plot itself and the characters are entirely different and stand on their own. There are parts in this story that gave me the creeps and goosebumps included. The twists are placed unexpectedly, exactly the way I like them. Reading a story like this makes it a lot more fun, you never know what comes next. The story didn’t turn out like I imagined because I didn’t take Barclay’s way of writing into account. He did a much better job with the conclusion, which was loaded with suspense, what else.
