I have read all three books successively, which was the best way to keep all the plots and characters fresh in my mind. I still see the first more as an introduction, the second book offers a deeper understanding and background to how Wayward Pines was formed and more importantly what David Pilcher’s intention was. Here in the Last Town, all comes together, a nice conclusion in which I have found answers to my questions.
But still, I was surprised by the abrupt and rather open end. After having followed this story over three books, I would have expected a more satisfying end. The only thing left is to imagine what could happen next, whatever scenario that could be is up to the reader’s imagination.
All in all a comprehensive conclusion despite the unexpected end, but still worth reading.
