This was not what I expected it to be. And I did expect a cheesy Christmas romance book. It was cheesy, but without the romance.
I just wanted to lay back and read a cute romantic story to get me into the Christmas spirit. All I wanted from this book was entertainment. Nothing too clever or innovative, just good vibes and unrealistically romantic Christmas miracles. But there was no romance, not really. As soon as the first misunderstanding cleared up, they’re basically together. Where is the awkward cuteness, the longing, the tension, the banter, THE ROMANCE!?
If you take away the romance from a well established kind of story like this, the only thing thats’s left is predictability. You’re neither invested in the story nor the characters because both are not very original and there is simply no doubt that everything is going to be alright in the end. So why care?
It still was an easy read and I didn’t hate it, i just could have read something else instead.
