Charlie is not very popular and very afraid of starting High School. Luckily he finds some friends who dont mind him behaving weird and just accept him as he is. Especially Sam, who is so beautiful and really encourages him to just live and do things and not for others, but for himself. He is missing his aunt so badly, who died in a car accident and he never got over it. As he tries to find his own place in this crazy world , he discoveres love and drugs and secrets.
I really loved this book. I have seen the movie years ago and also loved it, but havin Charlie tell his story like this is a whole other thing. His special way of seeing this world, the bonding with his friends and sister, trying to find where he belongs just hits very different. While reading, I was listening to the songs mentioned in the book and they really fit the scenarios. And of course the relationship with him and his aunt is just heartbreaking.
Just read it. No matter how old you are.
