Have you ever considered going under hypnosis and what hidden secrets it could reveal? With human life at stake, Swedish Inspector Joona Linna doesn’t have the time to dwell on this question, he merely wants to use every opportunity to solve an unsolved case. There is something Joona Linna doesn’t like in his work, unconcluded cases, it’s not in his character to let that go quickly and move on to the next. He will move on when he has found the culprit and not before.
I have found this book a good start to the Joona Linna series, it remains to be seen how the characters develop over time and with every case. Sure there is always a resemblance to other Nordic authors, they all write about a police department or crime investigator. I haven’t found the spark yet, that makes this series more special than others, for this you need more than just the first book.
The book itself reads like a calm flow of words, great if you looking for an easy read without putting too much thought into it. For me, the story didn’t leave room for any speculation, just a straight line to a quick showdown and a plausible end. Not as demanding as I usually prefer.
