I was fascinated by the concept that Alexandra Bracken figured out for “The darkest Minds”. Imagine: You wake up an the only thing you can find is chaos. There is a mysterious sickness, that only affects children and kills most of them. But you belong to those who survived, who the government fears. You are forced to go to a camp and work there and somehow you managed to hide yourself as a “less dangerous” mutant. You are freed by someone you cannot actually trust but there is no other choice. You need to escape from the government! So you run away and meet other kids who experienced similar things an together you try to fight against the brutal methods society developped to keep kids like you under control. How could such a story not be exciting?
