After reading a few chapters, I had the impression that this story was pure fiction because I couldn’t imagine such things could happen in real life. But the more I progressed, the author convinced me otherwise. That there are not only good people out there and that you have to be very careful with whom you are friends, but they may also turn into monsters. This is an absolutely bizarre story and for the lawyers a large case to handle.
Even after reading the last chapter, I couldn’t let it go, my heart went out to the victims and the kid who lost his parents. I knew that social media could be a dangerous platform; harassment is known throughout all the forums. But that it can turn someone into manipulating others to kill was until now beyond my understanding.
This story is written from the prosecutor’s point of view, from the first moments he got the case until the verdict was spoken in court.
Right from the start you feel how much he wanted to solve the case, despite the number of files. That in the beginning he had no clue how the case would proceed, and if he would have any success either. It is his duty to prove who was behind those killings, and what lead to them, a difficult task indeed.
I very much enjoyed the author’s approach, despite the gruesome circumstances. The story is quite easy to follow. I was glad that in the end, they could not only bring the murderer to justice but also the people who were behind it. The prosecutor could take a glimpse behind the veil of conspiracy and reveal the manipulator. To find out what put it in motion is even more shocking, and because of this, those people had to die, so unnecessary. I don’t know if it could have been prevented, that hatred had time to grow over time, a web of deception found access to highly susceptible victims.
What did I learn from this story? That we live in a dangerous world and improving my safety setting for my social accounts wouldn’t be a bad thing.
