Beth O’Leary may well become one of my favourite authors!
The No-Show is the second book of hers I’ve read so far and I liked this one even more than The Flatshare, which was already very good.
I just click with her storytelling and her writing style. I would have read 100 pages more of Joseph Carter and his dating life, and I’ll have to try reeeally hard not to spoil anything with this review, as it’s just such a good read when you go in completely blind.
The way the author structured and told this story was marvellous! I knew there was something going on and I had my doubts about the obvious first conclusion one draws, yet I probably wouldn’t have figured out just how it all played out in the end.
I loved every character in this book (maybe safe for one - he felt a bit flat and very cliché, but it didn’t bother me too much), and my heart was aching for many of them. Even some of the side characters stole their way into my heart.
It’s a very sweet romantic novel which also deals with big traumas and results of them! LOVED IT! It was so easy to feel with them and get my heart broken alongside theirs.
I’m quite sure that many will like this book. Don’t go into it expecting spice but please don’t write it off because of this. It’s such a sweet and wholesome read!
